Building & Grounds Vendor Fair

Time:  12:30 to 2:30 pm

Location:  889 East 17th Avenue

  • Under the leadership of Outreach Coordinator Terri Wise and Interim Buildings & Grounds Director Jeff Roe, over 20 companies got information on upcoming projects and networked with other vendors.
  • Michael Defabbo, Interim Chief of Staff, represented Dr. Angela Chapman, Interim Superintendent.
  • Board President Jennifer Adair offered her support for the program and engaged with vendors while they waited for scheduled appointments.
  • The Welcome Packet included contact information for B&G Dept. Supervisors.
  • Contact information for all businesses registered for the event was in the welcome packet.
  • The City of Columbus Office of Diversity & Inclusion provided participants with information on the City’s new certification programs.
  • A LEDE-certified firm coordinated the marketing and event management.

 

The following departments are eager to meet with LEDE-certified vendors.  Vendors will get 10-minute appointments to introduce their product/service. Vendors should bring a capability statement, business cards, and other materials to market their business.

  • Admin/Energy Management/Environmental Health & Safety
    • Jeff Roe, Manager – jroejr@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed:
      • Admin: leadership coaching, trainings (technical and soft skills)
      • Energy: building automation systems, utility bill auditing, retro-commissioning
      • EH&S: flooring, mold, lead paint, fixed ladders
    • This department oversees the operation
  • Carpentry
    • Paul Mathers, Supervisor – jmathers8617@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed: Purchase windows, boarding, and ceiling tile grids—also materials for masonry, concrete, flooring, and roofing repairs.
    • The department repairs to concrete, windows, doors, roofs, drywall, door handles, bathroom partitions, and floor/wall tiling. Also, hang pictures and assembles furniture.
  • Electrical
    • Dustin Morrow, Supervisor – dmorrow@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed: Assisting with state-mandated inspections and repairs on fire alarms, elevator, and generator systems. Assist with repairs of stadium lighting, interior/exterior lighting, electrical repairs, and new installations that may require a city permit
    • The department repairs lighting, public announcement systems, fire alarm systems, smart boards, bells, clocks, plugs, and circuit breakers. It also adds new outlets.
  • HVAC
    • Everett Cavendish, Supervisor East – ecavendish@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Jerick Richter, Supervisor West- jrichter@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed: Assist with HVAC, preventative maintenance, and boiler service. Purchase of HVAC systems and parts.
    • The department repairs and replaces all HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, air handlers, heat pumps, and associated items.
  • Landscaping
    • James Rensel, Supervisor – jrensel@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed: Assisting with mowing, tree and brush removal, mulching, snow & ice removal, playground equipment repair, fencing service, and asphalt.
    • The department repairs fencing, bioretention plant life, asphalt, playgrounds, and benches. It also mows and removes snow.
  • Paint / HVAC Preventative Maintenance / Asbestos
    • Andrew Kitsmiller, Supervisor – akitsmiller@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed: Assisting with painting, plaster repair, drywall repair, power washing, fireproofing, graffiti removal, and signage.  Purchase materials needed for preventative maintenance (filters, etc.) and painting.
    • The department repairs graffiti, plaster damage, and exterior, landscape, and interior paint. Removes asbestos materials. Also, changes out HVAC filters and replaces insulation.
  • Plumbing
    • Michael Blakey, Interim Supervisor – mblakey@columbus.k12.oh.us
    • Vendor help is needed with: Assisting with drain cleaning (traps and utilities), sprinkler system, backflow inspections, pump repair and replacement, leak repairs, water heater repairs, drinking fountains, faucets, and water closets.
    • Department repairs items such as stopped drains, installing new piping, sump pumps, faucet/toilet repair, pump repair, fountains, and sprinkler systems.
